1st International Bielefeld Marathon with Halfmarathon ©

Sunday, October 10th, 2010 – 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

A new course map has been done and sent to the city of Bielefeld, The new course map will be published, when the city of Bielefeld has confirmed the marathon event in 2010. It is a course from A to B, starting in the city and finishing in the south of the city, covering 42.195 kilometers (26 miles 385 yards), half marathon starts at the half marathon mark and also finishes at the marathon 42.195 K.

Programs

The competition includes:

  • marathon 42 km 195 m (26 miles 385 yards)
  • half marathon 21 km 97.5 m race (13.112 miles)
  • half marathon 21 km 97.5 m inline & handbike race
  • 10 K relay team consisting three athletes
  • 2.5 K schools-run race
  • 400m bambini-race
Classification will take place under the IAAF and Athletics Regulation (IWB) guidelines of the German Athletics Federation (DLV). The field is limited.

Eligibility for the half marathon and marathon events

The marathon and half marathon is opened to men and women over 14 years old (born in 1995/1996). The age is determined by the quantity of full years on October 10th, 2010. The schools-run race of 2.5 K iis opened to all children runners (and the families with children) (10-16 years old), the bambini-race to children (4-9 years old).

Athletes must enter the finish area within 5:00 p.m to receive a time as well as the commemorative medal.

The flooring consists only of tarred ground. For reasons of safety the usage of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks is prohibited.

This course covers the marathon distance.

Pacemakers

Pacemakers are specifically marked in coherent cloths. Even for new runners on the marathon distance the pacemakers give the opportunity to achieve your estimated training time when finishing. They will be available for the scheduled times: 2:59 hours (vacant), 3:14 hours (vacant), 3:29 hours, 3:44 hours, 3:59 hours, 4:14 hours and 4:59 hours.

Barriers

There will be barriers alongside the track to insure that no one will get lost while  following the track. The cordon takes place by VTRipkens GmbH & Co. KG, Bad Salzuflen, Germany.

Kilometer and mile markers

Signs are found every kilometer on the left and right side of the track e.g.  2/9/16/23/30/37. Milage marks can be found only every 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 miles on different signs.

Medical Service

Medical service is provided to you by ASB DRK JUH gGmbH. The doctors are  allowed to prevent any kind of injuries of the athletes. Therefore they are permitted to take the athletes out of competition when they seem to be harming themselves.

Feeding and refreshment

Refreshment and feeding stations are located every 5 km per round on the course and in the start and finish area.

Timekeeping

The time measuring happens exclusively by Mika Timing. You can either use you own chip by adding one of your barcode stickers and pay only the Entry Fee rent the chip for 28 EUR. When returning it after the race, you will be refunded with 25 EUR. If not returning it, Mika Timing will claim your deposit. The chip can be used for similar street-races all around the world.

Control time of race is 5 hours 40 minutes.

Without the ChampionChip you cannot take part in the race.

Application & Entry Information

You can enter the race by completely filling out the registration form attached. It has to be sent by mail until September 15th, 2010 to the following address:  Mika Timing GmbH, Bielefeld Marathon, Kuertener Straße 11 B, D-51465 Bergisch Gladbach, Germany.  Don’t forget your signature.

Entries for the race are also possible via http://www.bielefeld-marathon.de. We regret to say, that if there is no German bank account existing, payment will only be available with credit card. Entry forms including cheques will not be considered.

If a competitor does not take part in the race, the Entry Fee will not be returned.  An Entry Confirmation will be send out via email once the Entry Fee has been paid.

The entry fee must be paid by foreign athletes in advance via credit card. German athletes can only pay their fee with a German bank account.

Registration Deadline

The application deadline for the mail and online registrations is on September 15th, 2010.

(Post)-Registration Terminal

Late registration is only available on Saturday, October 9th, 2010 and Sunday, October 10th, 2010 up to 30 minutes before starting times of each competition. Additional fee is 2 EUROs.

Number-Pick-Up / Expo

You’ll get your starting number only with your registration confirmation sent to you by email. The Number-Pick-Up will be located at the Expo. There you’ll have the chance to buy running apparel.

Changing Rooms & Showers

Changing Rooms and warm Showers will be available close to the Expo. The way will be signposted.

There you will also find the trucks to host your match bag while in competition.

Restrooms

There will be enough restrooms available around Start & Finish as well as on the track.

Massage

If you wish you may attend the massages after finish your race.           

Awards

All finishers of the marathon, half marathon, schools-run races and relay teams receive the commemorative medal and the finisher T-Shirt.

PDF certificates will be available online within 24 hours after the finish. If you wish to get your results postally, just add 3 EUR extra by registration.

Award ceremony

The awarding ceremonies will start at 4:30 p.m. on the event:ware stage.

Other Events

In Start and Finish areas as well as on several action points surrounding the track, there will be a lot of bands and activities, especially for families and their kids to guarantee a good atmosphere.

Waiver

I know that participating in the 1st International BIELEFELD MARATHON and related events, including the OWL Schools Run (collectively, the “Events”), is a potentially hazardous activity. I agree not to enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of an Event official relative to my ability to safely complete the Event. I am voluntarily entering and assume all risks associated with participating in the Events, including, but not limited to, falls, spills, contact with vehicles, other participants, spectators or others, the effect of the weather, including heat and/or humidity, or cold, traffic and the conditions of the course or other areas of the Events, including congestion, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Also, I grant to the Medical Director of the Events and his designee access to my medical records and physicians, as well as other information, relating to medical care that may be administered to me as a result of my participation in the Events.

Data protection regulations

Having read this Waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of this application, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, do hereby waive and release Bielefeld Marathon UG (with limited liability), the City of Bielefeld and all of its agencies and departments, all Sponsors of the Events, and each of their respective officers, directors, members, agents, employees and other representatives, from all present and future claims and liabilities of any kind, known or unknown, arising out of my participation in the Events, even though any such claim or liability may arise out of ordinary negligence or fault on the part of any of the foregoing persons or entities. In addition, I grant my permission to all of the foregoing persons and entities to use or authorize others to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of my participation in the Events for any legitimate purpose without remuneration.
